2. As if ~ : to say how somebody / something looks / sounds / feels etc (=As though / like)
- That house looks as if it's going to fall down.
- Nick sounds as if he has a cold, doesn't he? = Nick sounds like he has a cold. = Nick sounds as though he has a cold.
- It smells as if someone has been smoking in here.
- Do you hear that music next door. It sounds like they're having a party.
- When I told them my plan, they looked at me as if I was crazy.
3. It's hard / easy / difficult / impossible / dangerous / safe / expensive / cheap / nice / interesting
- Mr Shin doesn't speak clearly. So It's hard to understand him. OR So He is hard to understand.
- Do you think it's a safe to drink this water? OR Do you think this water is safe to drink?
- Your handwriting is awful. It's impossible to read it. OR Your handwriting is impossible to read.

* This is very difficult question to answer.
* I couldn't answer the question. = It was difficult to answer the question. The question was difficult to answer. It was a difficult question to answer.

: with + 명사 + 과거 분사(~ed): N가 ~ 되어서 / ~된 채

: with + 명사 + 형용사|부사구: ~ 한 채로 / ~ 되어서

4) In fact VS As a matter of fact
- in (actual) fact: 사실은[실은](방금 한 말에 대해 자세한 내용을 덧붙일 때 씀)

5. try to do : attempt to do, make an effort to do...
- I was very tired. I tried to keep my eyes open, but I couldn't.

- I don't like him, but he has a lot of problems. I can't help feeling sorry for him.
- She tired to be serious, but she couldn't help laughing. (=She couldn't stop herself form laughing).
- I'm sorry I'm so nervous. I can't help it.
8. Adjectives -ing & ed
- The movie was disappointing VS we were disappointed this film
- She enjoys he job, but it's often exhausting VS At the end of a day's work, She is often exhausted
- This weather is depressing. VS This weather makes me depressed
- It'll be an exciting experience for her VS Going to new places is always exciting VS She is really excited about going to Mexico.
